Columbia, MO - The Stephens Stars basketball team welcomed the Comets of Cottey College to Silverthorne Arena on Saturday in a non-conference matchup. Looking to extend their winning-streak, the Stars jumped out to a a quick 18-7 lead after the first quarter. Cottey was determined to play better, but the Stars' defense was too much for the Comets to handle; Stephens held a 31-18 lead at halftime.
The Comets offense came alive in the third quarter as they closed the scoring gap to nine points. Baskets from
Allison Moore and
Addy Stalzer pushed the Stars' lead back to 13 at 41-28. Both teams traded points until the end of the third when Stephens had a 46-34 lead.
The Stars worked hard in the fourth quarter and contributions from many players.
Alexis Scott-Windham opened the Stars' largest scoring quarter with a three-pointer.
Myliaha Ezeofor scored nine points in the fourth quarter alone. Stephens outscored Cottey 22-14 in the fourth quarter to claim the victory over the Comets 68-48.
