St. Louis, MO - The Stephens Stars basketball team looked to continue their winning ways when they traveled to the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy to take on the Eutectics in another AMC contest. The Stars' defense proved to be too much for the Euts, as they forced 24 turnovers from UHSP while also picking up 15 steals.
The Eutectics held a slim 15-14 lead after the first quarter. The Stars' defense picked up three steals and was led by
Cedreanna Lee's seven points in the second quarter to outscore UHSP 17-10 in the quarter to take a 31-25 lead into the half.
Stephens was determined to hold their lead in the third as they went 9-16 from the field and 4-5 from the free throw line to outscore the Eutectics again in the third, 23-20; putting their lead at 54-45.
Reining AMC player-of-the-week Grace Beyer scored fast and early in the fourth quarter to push the Eutectics ahead of the Stars 55-54. The Stars then went on an eight-point scoring run to take a 62-55 lead. This would be their largest lead of the fourth quarter as both teams traded baskets for the remainder of the game. Ultimately, the Stars held on to a 68-63 victory over UHSP.
