Manhattan, KS - The Stephens Stars traveled to Manhattan Christian College for a tri-match with hosts MCC and Bethany College. A competitive day for the Stars; they beat the hosts MCC 3-1 before falling to Bethany College 1-3.
In their first match with the Thunder of MCC, the Stars got off to a slow start, dropping the first set 17-25. After leading for much of the second set, the Stars were able to hold off a late push from the Thunder and take the second set 30-28. The Stars then won a tight third set 25-23 before closing out the fourth and final set 25-19.
In their second contest, the Stars faced a tough and physical Swedes of Bethany College. Another slow start had the Stars drop the first set 14-25. The Stars held an early 10-5 lead and never looked back in the second set, bringing the match even with a 25-16 second set win. The Swedes proved to be too much for the Stars as they took sets three and four by scores of 25-18 and 25-17.
