Stars take the loss on the road

Point Lookout, Mo. - The Stars traveled to play the College of the Ozarks Bobcats today in Point Lookout, Missouri, and returned with a 1-3 defeat.

The Bobcats scored the first point in the opening set and managed to go on a small run establishing an early lead. However, the Stars fought back with a powerful Avery Hays kill, putting them on the map in set one. After a back-and-forth battle, Jamie Russell's presence became known as the senior shut down the Bobcats at the net preventing a late comeback. As a result, the Stars were able to secure the set one win with a score of 25-20.

The Stars took the lead early in set two as the powerhouse duo, Rylee Collins and Emberlynn Kingsley put up a towering double block against the Bobcats athletic attacker. It did not stop the Bobcats as they managed to go on a serving streak, gaining momentum and putting pressure on the Stars. Isabelle Benson was determined to bring the Stars back into the set and retaliated with her own serving streak. Despite Benson's efforts, it wasn't good enough for the Stars to turn the tide in their favor, and the host Bobcats emerged victorious in set two with a score of 25-18.

The Stars were first to put points on the board in set three on a first-serve error by the Bobcats.  Russell played a pivotal role in the set, contributing multiple kills and remaining strong at the net. The Stars managed two crucial blocks down the stretch to tie the game, but despite their efforts, the Stars lost a thrilling set three, 26-24.

In the final set, the Stars started strong, taking the lead once more. Set three remained close, with both teams exchanging points, however, a few critical plays in favor of the Bobcats shifted the momentum, allowing the host school to take the lead. Late in the game and trailing, Bollinger fought back, putting down two impressive kills, and helping the Stars regain the lead. Despite the efforts from the Stars, the Bobcats managed to stage a comeback, retaking the lead and ultimately winning the final set with a score of 25-22.
