Great Falls, Mont. - Stephens Basketball showcased their prowess in a commanding 68-41 triumph against Montana State University-Northern (MSUN) Skylights during the Great Falls Classic.
The game kicked off with the Stars securing the jump ball and Lauren Freidrick quickly sinking a 3-point bucket putting the Stars ahead on the scoreboard. As the first quarter unfolded, the Stars steadily built an 8-point lead before the Skylights secured their first basket.
Despite a spirited resurgence from the Skylights in the second quarter, the Stars maintained their momentum, resulting in a substantial 17-point lead as they headed into halftime.
The third quarter witnessed a determined comeback attempt by the Skylights, yet the Stars held firm control. Alayasia Douglas made a pivotal layup, contributing to the Stars maintaining a 15-point lead.
The Stars sealed the victory in the final quarter, extending their lead by an impressive 27 points. Head Coach Andre Bell was able to utilize the entire bench in the win obtaining valuable playing experience on the road. Â The 68-41 final score underscores the Stars' decisive dominance and emphasizes their cohesive team effort on both ends of the court.
Looking ahead, the Stars are geared up for Day 2 of the Great Falls Classic, where they will face the NAIA Nationally Ranked #18 University of Providence (Mont.) at 6 pm CDT.
