Traveling from Madison, South Dakota, the Dakota State Trojan Softball took on Stephens College Wednesday afternoon. Despite the weather being hectic this past week, we found a moment when there was some sunshine and a slight breeze.Ā
In game one, we had
Grace TathĀ take to the rubber in hopes of getting her record back to .500% and getting the Stars a game one victory in their doubleheader.Ā Tath, the lowball thrower, was making her defense work and with that, she only allowed one run on five hits. The pressure was off ofĀ TathĀ because of the offense that supported her throughout the five-inning game. TheĀ Throckmorton sistersĀ gathered four hits in six at-bats, while Lindsey Hood went three for four with an RBI. A total of eight Stars got a hit in the first game, supportingĀ TathĀ to the victory and ending the game after a Hood single scored
Mia Adriano in the bottom of the fifth inning,Ā initiating the eight-run mercy rule.Ā
Game two for the Stars totaled 16 runs with a few comebacks in the late innings. The game started slow with each team getting a run in the first inning. By the third inning, the wind started to pick up, swinging the balls into left field. We had a total of twelve pop-ups andĀ unfortunately,Ā a high pop-up was carried over the left field fence in the seventh inning, carrying the Trojans over the Stars 9-7.Ā
Stephens College starts its conference play next week against William Woods University on Tuesday at 2 PM in Fulton, Missouri.Ā Ā
