The regular season has officially ended after today's doubleheader against Columbia College. The Stars were hyped up all week for their season finale and knew the community was coming out to watch. Stephens Softball had its Staff and Athlete appreciation day for their historic season.
Gillian Hale, back from injury, was the Stars starter in game one. Hale was able to go 3.2 innings in her reintroduction to pitching, but the Cougars were able to pounce on her rise ball. The Stars were unfortunately held to two runs on three hits and lost the first 15-2.
Stars ace,
Grace Tath, got the start for game two and she was ready to give it her all. We had ourselves a pitching duel between Gottman and Tath, with both pitchers keeping it close until the fifth inning, when Columbia was able to score on a wild pitch, followed by a grand slam. The Stars have implemented a never give up attitude and in the seventh inning
Anabel Throckmorton and
Mia Adriano fought to get on base, which led to a three-run shot by
Gillian Hale over the right field wall. The Stars did fall 6-3 to Columbia, but there is a bigger goal at hand and that is the conference tournament a week from now.
The Stars schedule will be updated in the following week for the AMC Tournament.
