Columbia, Mo . -Stephens College extended a 12-game win streak last night in Silverthorne Arena in a 3-0 (25-13, 27-25, 25-16) American Midwest Conference sweep over the Eutectics of University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy.

Emberlynn Kingsley at the 7-3 mark. After a Eutectics timeout, Stephens extended their lead to 18-8 and pushed through the end of set one, serving the opposition tough and eventually winning 25-13.
Set two saw a new Stars lineup and both teams trading points up until the 19-19 mark. With the game locked at 19, the Stars were able to seize the lead with a service ace from Izzabelle Benson. After trading points a few more times, a service run by
Kiley Smetzer gave the Stars the edge at 25-24. A
Trevor Koelling team timeout, combined with a
Madison Threlkeld (assisted by
Emma Whitson) kill propelled the Stars to a thrilling set two victory (27-25).
Set three started on a high note with an impressive kill from middle hitter Kingsley into the middle of the Eutectics defensive court. Stars blockers Threlkeld and Kingsley shut down Eutectics attackers early at the net, and a Stars serving substitution of Avery Hayes sent the Stars on a 9-point service run including two aces which forced the opposition into a timeout at 13-8. Several Stars attackers dominated the offense closing out the match in dominating fashion (25-16), for an American Midwest Conference sweep.
"I am super proud for how we played tonight. Overall, we got our entire bench in, and everyone had their role and executed their role to the best of their ability. We got a little comfortable in the second set, but we got it back in the end when we needed it too. I am considering us the comeback queens this season, because we enjoy playing even when we are down," first year Coach
Trevor Koelling states after his 12
th straight win this season.
The Stars return to play this Saturday, September 30 in a tri-match at Missouri Valley College in Marshall, MO. playing against Missouri Valley College at noon and Baptist Bible College at 2 pm.
