Farmer’s Dominance Propels Stephens Over Crowley’s Ridge

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Syderah Farmer delivered a spectacular performance with 28 points and 16 rebounds, leading Stephens College to an 84-72 victory over Crowley's Ridge College on Saturday. 

The Stars (3-5, 1-3 AMC) built on a strong offensive display to secure their first conference win of the season. 

Farmer's double-double highlighted a game defined by efficient scoring and defensive tenacity.

The opening frame saw the Stars and the Pioneers trade blows, with both teams shooting over 40%. 

Farmer established her presence early with a layup and a block, while Casandra Sams added a putback to keep the Stars tied at 18 by the end of the quarter.

Stephens pulled away in the second quarter, outscoring the Eagles 23-13. 

Farmer drained two three-pointers and grabbed crucial defensive rebounds, while Paula Puzule added a deep three to extend the lead. The Stars entered halftime ahead 41-31.

The Stars held firm in the third, matching Crowley's Ridge's intensity. LaiJanique Perry-Ellis orchestrated the offense with timely assists, including a feed to Taylor Norris for a three-pointer. 

Farmer's dominance on the boards continued, ensuring second-chance opportunities and keeping Stephens up 61-52 entering the fourth.

Stephens won with a strong fourth quarter, outscoring the Eagles 23-20. 

Farmer punctuated her performance with back-to-back layups off steals.

The Stars return to action on Dec. 14, hosting Missouri Baptist at 1 p.m. This marks the final opportunity for fans to participate in the Toys for Tots donation drive by bringing an unwrapped toy to the game.
