Columbia, Mo. - The Stephens College basketball team dominated their Senior Night game against Hannibal-LaGrange with a resounding 105-60 victory at Silverthorne Arena in Columbia, Mo. The night was dedicated to honoring the contributions of five seniors: Alayasia Douglas, Zaraya March, Arthel Massaquoi, Marveen Ross, and Brooke Peters, along with three senior dancers: Ally Ainsleigh, Joeley Clark, and Anya Helzer.
Before the game, the Stars celebrated their seniors, setting the stage for an exciting matchup. During halftime, the Stars' volleyball and soccer players engaged in a friendly game against the Columbia Parks and Recreation Special Olympics "Heat" Basketball team, adding to the festive atmosphere. The halftime show also featured performances by the senior dancers, showcasing their talent and dedication.
On the court, Stephens College displayed their dominance, improving their record to 20-6 overall (15-2 AMC), while Hannibal-LaGrange fell to 5-19 (1-16 AMC).
Zaraya March led the charge with an impressive 23 points and four steals, while Arthel Massaquoi recorded her first double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Contributions from Aushara Hostetler, Alayasia Douglas, and Chu Crockett further bolstered the Stars' commanding performance.
Throughout the game, the Stars showcased their defensive prowess, holding Hannibal-LaGrange to 40% shooting and forcing turnovers. The team's relentless pressure on both ends of the court allowed them to maintain control and secure the decisive victory.
Looking ahead, the Stars will face Harris-Stowe State University in their final regular conference game of the season on Saturday, Feb. 24th, in St. Louis, Mo. With momentum on their side, Stephens College aims to finish the season strong as they prepare for postseason play.
