COLUMBIA, Mo. — The Stephens College soccer team dropped its first AMC conference match of the season, falling 0-2 to Williams Baptist on Saturday, with Golden Nutrition as the matchday sponsor.

Stephens (1-6-2, 0-1 AMC) generated 21 shots, 16 of which were on target, but Williams Baptists' goalkeeper stood tall, making 15 saves to secure the clean sheet for the visitors. Williams Baptist (3-7, 1-0 AMC) capitalized on their opportunities, scoring once in each half.

The Eagles broke the deadlock in the 39th minute to take a 0-1 lead into halftime, despite Stephens generating seven shots in the first half. 

The Stars pressed forward in the second half but were unable to penetrate Williams Baptist's defense. The Eagles added a second goal in the 60th minute to effectively seal the match.

Stephens goalkeeper Sofia Ramos had another solid outing, making 11 saves to keep her team in contention. Charlie Keefe and Dafne Gonzalez led the offensive charge for the Stars, each recording five shots on goal. 

The Stars will look to bounce back in their next AMC contest as they travel to face Central Baptist College on Saturday, Oct. 5, with kickoff scheduled for 5 p.m.
