COLUMBIA, Mo. – Stephens College Volleyball was unable to halt Evangel University's winning streak, suffering a 0-3 (10-25, 13-25, 16-25) loss.
The Stars struggled to find their rhythm, as Evangel capitalized on a 10-point run in the first set to secure a commanding 10-25 win. Despite Stephens' early efforts, the Valor's offense proved too strong, recording 13 kills and six aces in the set.
Stephens showed resilience in the second set, with Jamie Russell narrowing the gap with a well-placed kill. However, the Stars couldn't keep up with the Valor's momentum, dropping the set 13-25.
In the third set, Amari Branch-Autman sparked a short run, giving the Stars a brief lead. Yet, Evangel regained control, closing out the match with a 16-25 victory despite Russell's efforts to keep them at bay.
Izzy Benson led Stephens with six kills and six digs, while Jatnna Pena-Perez added nine digs.
The Stars continue their road trip with a visit to Salina, Kan., for the Kansas Wesleyan Coyote Classic, starting Sept. 6 at 5 p.m.
