Stars Take Down Crowley's Ridge for Sixth Straight Win

PARAGOULD, Ark. – The Stephens College Stars extended their winning streak to six games, defeating Crowley's Ridge College 68-39 on Friday night in AMC play.

Sophomore Aushara Hostetler led the offensive charge with 17 points, knocking down five three-pointers, while Chu Crockett added 15 points, eight rebounds, and six steals. Taylor Norris controlled the tempo with six points and six rebounds, and KaLynn Irey contributed eight points and four rebounds.

Both teams struggled offensively to open the game, but a late run helped Stephens take an 11-9 lead after the first quarter. Norris got the Stars on the board with an early three-pointer off a Perry-Ellis assist, while Crockett added a layup and a pair of free throws. Zoe Davis capped the quarter with a putback layup just before the buzzer.

Stephens erupted in the second quarter, outscoring Crowley's Ridge 31-9. Hostetler caught fire from beyond the arc, sinking five three-pointers in the frame, while Crockett controlled the paint with strong defensive rebounding and second-chance points. Taylor Norris added another three-pointer to push the Stars' lead to 42-18 at halftime.

The pace slowed in the third, with both teams struggling to score. The Stars managed just six points in the quarter but maintained their defensive intensity. Syderah Farmer hit a mid-range jumper, and Perry-Ellis added a driving layup as Stephens held onto a 48-34 advantage heading into the final period.

Stephens finished the game with authority, outscoring Crowley's Ridge 20-5 in the fourth. Crockett added six points, including a steal that led to a fast-break layup. Irey provided energy off the bench, converting a layup and sinking two free throws to seal the victory.

The Stars (14-7, 11-4 AMC) wrap up their two-game road trip on Saturday, Feb. 1, with a 2 p.m. showdown against first-place Williams Baptist. Stephens looks to end the Eagles' 12-game winning streak in a key AMC matchup.
