St. Louis, MO - The Stephens College volleyball team earned a decisive sweep over UHSP on Wednesday night in St. Louis, taking the match 3-0 (25-19, 25-12, 25-17). With the victory, the Stars improved to 9-7 overall and 6-1 in conference play.
Stephens came out strong in the opening set, hitting .298 as a team to build momentum and claim a 25-19 win. The Stars carried that energy into the second frame, holding UHSP to a .000 hitting percentage while cruising to a 25-12 result. Stephens closed out the sweep with another efficient performance in the third set, winning 25-17.
Lena Hunziker led the Stars' attack with 11 kills and 16 digs, while both Fernanda Izar and Amari Branch-Autman tallied eight kills apiece. Setter Emma Whitson ran the offense with 44 assists and added six digs. Defensively, Jatnna Pena Perez anchored the back row with 15 digs, and the Stars combined for eight blocks at the net.
As a team, Stephens finished with 46 kills on a .278 hitting percentage while limiting UHSP to just .053 offensively.
The Stars will take a break from conference play and head to Palos Heights, IL this weekend for four games.Â
