St. Louis, MO - The Stephens College volleyball team went head-to-head with Missouri Baptist on Tuesday night, falling in three sets (10-25, 19-25, 25-27) in St. Louis.
After a slow start in the opening set, the Stars found their rhythm midway through the match, pushing the nationally ranked Spartans to the brink in the final frame. Stephens hit .250 in the third set, showing their ability to adjust and compete late against one of the top teams in the AMC.
Lena Hunziker led the offense with 10 kills and 10.5 points, while setter Emma Whitson tallied 17 assists and added six digs. Fernanda Izar contributed defensively at the net with three block assists, and libero Jatnna Peña-Perez anchored the back row with nine digs.
The loss moves Stephens to 17-11 overall and 9-1 in conference play. The Stars will return to action this weekend in another AMC quad in St. Louis, facing Mission University and Harris-Stowe University.Â
