Stars Sweep on Dig Pink

Columbia, MO - Stephens College volleyball turned in a dominant performance Thursday night, sweeping William Woods University 3–0 (25–22, 25–18, 25–16) inside Silverthorne Arena in Columbia, Missouri. The victory moved the Stars to 13-9 on the season and handed the Owls just their sixth loss of the year.

Stephens controlled the match from start to finish, hitting an impressive .317 as a team and keeping William Woods off balance throughout. Lena Hunziker led the attack with 13 kills on a .303 hitting percentage, while Michalina Oles followed closely with 12 kills and four block assists. Fernanda Izar continued her strong all-around play, finishing with eight kills, five total blocks, and a .500 hitting percentage.

Setter Emma Whitson ran the offense with precision, tallying 38 assists, three aces, and nine digs. Amari Branch-Autman added six kills and three blocks to help fuel the front line. Defensively, libero Jatnna Peña Pérez anchored the back row with 19 digs, keeping rallies alive and limiting the Owls to a .120 hitting percentage.

The first set featured several lead changes, but Stephens found its rhythm late to secure a 25–22 win. The Stars carried that momentum into the second set, where strong passing and timely blocks gave them a 25–18 advantage. In the third, Stephens hit .407 as a team and closed the night in convincing fashion with a 25–16 finish.
