St. Louis, MO – The Stephens College soccer team closed out its 2025 season with a hard-fought 2-1 loss to UHSP in the AMC Quarterfinals on Tuesday afternoon at St. Louis University High.
The Stars struck first in the 16th minute when Moriah Carnahan found the back of the net for her 13th goal of the season, finishing a setup from Ava Leininger and Kayln Apodaca. Stephens held the early lead until the 26th minute, when UHSP's Lyla Stegmann equalized off an assist from Izzy Rogers, sending the teams into halftime tied 1-1.
In the second half, UHSP broke the deadlock in the 56th minute. Stephens continued to push forward, generating nine total shots with six on goal, including multiple second-half chances from Eastin Colyer and Ava Leininger, but couldn't find the equalizer.
Goalkeeper Petra Brncova tallied five saves in 90 minutes of action, while Carnahan, Colyer, and Leininger each recorded two shots to lead the attack.
The loss brings Stephens' season to a close with a 6-11-1 overall record and a 3-3 mark in AMC play.
