COLUMBIA, Mo. – Stephens College concluded the 2024-25 regular season with a 20-8 overall record and a 17-5 mark in American Midwest Conference (AMC) play, securing back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time in program history.
The Stars now shift their focus to the postseason, marking their fifth consecutive appearance in the AMC Tournament. Their journey in the tournament began in the opening round of the 2020-21 season when they fell to the University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy 38-57. Since then, Stephens has steadily built itself into one of the conference's top contenders.
"It was a great finish to the regular season, and our team has battled and persevered to be one of the top teams in our league," head coach Andre Bell said. "We have a lot of work to do, plus getting better this week for the AMC Tournament, which we are excited about. One big feat we are proud of as a basketball program here is putting together back-to-back 20-win seasons, which is the first time at Stephens."
The Stars look to improve on last year's postseason run, when they entered as the No. 2 seed after claiming the AMC regular-season championship alongside crosstown rival Columbia College. Stephens dominated No. 7 William Woods in the quarterfinals, 87-48, but fell in a high-scoring semifinal matchup against No. 3 Williams Baptist, 88-102.
One of the teams potentially standing in Stephens' path this postseason is Cottey College (No. 5), a familiar conference foe. The Stars last faced Cottey on Jan. 25, 2025, securing a 61-48 victory at home. Stephens leads the all-time series 6-3.
