Walnut Ridge, AR - The Stephens College volleyball team delivered a dominant performance on Saturday afternoon, sweeping Williams Baptist 3-0 (25-11, 25-19, 25-11) inside Southerland-Mabee Center. The win improves the Stars' record to 4-7 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
Stephens controlled the match from start to finish, hitting an efficient .293 as a team while limiting the Eagles to just a .114 attack percentage. The Stars' offense was fueled by Duru Eriz, who recorded nine kills on a .348 clip, and Cagla Aslan, who added seven kills while hitting .583 and contributing a team-high eight assists. Amari Branch-Autman chipped in six kills and 2.5 blocks, while Makenna Bollinger tallied five kills and led the team with four service aces.
Defensively, Stephens was steady, with Jatnna Pena Perez collecting 10 digs and Lilah Gardner adding four to go along with a match-high 12 assists. The Stars held Williams Baptist to single-digit kills in each set, using strong net play to finish with three blocks and two block assists as a team.
Stephens set the tone early with a commanding first-set win, then fended off several ties and lead changes in the second set before closing out the sweep with another decisive third set.
The Stars will look to carry this momentum into their next match as they continue conference play on Wednesday at home against Mission University. The first serve is scheduled for 6:00pm.
