Stars Roll Past Eutectics

Columbia, MO - Stephens College women's basketball put together a complete performance on Saturday afternoon, rolling past UHSP 100–60 in Columbia. The Stars came out with pace and confidence, opening the game on a strong run and closing the first quarter with a 36–12 advantage. That early momentum carried into the second quarter, as Stephens continued to push the tempo, move the ball effectively, and limit UHSP's offensive looks to take a 60–28 lead into halftime.

The Stars were balanced offensively, with multiple players contributing across the stat sheet. LaiJanique Perry-Ellis led the way with a game-high 25 points while also facilitating the offense and creating opportunities in transition. Simone Clay provided a major spark from beyond the arc, finishing with 18 points on six made three-pointers, while Quimari Shelton added 10 points and nine rebounds to anchor the interior. Stephens consistently found quality shots, finishing the game at 47 percent from the field and knocking down 14 three-pointers.

Defensively, Stephens set the tone from the opening tip, forcing UHSP into difficult possessions and turnovers that quickly turned into points. The Stars recorded 11 steals and converted turnovers into 24 points, applying steady pressure throughout the game. Their defensive effort was especially noticeable in the third quarter, when Stephens held UHSP to just 10 points while extending the lead to as many as 46.

Stephens continued to rotate players in the fourth quarter while maintaining control of the game, closing out the contest with the same intensity shown early. The Stars also held a strong edge on the glass, out-rebounding UHSP 47–36, which helped limit second-chance opportunities and keep the game firmly in their favor. The win improves Stephens to 6–11 overall and 5–2 in conference play, marking another strong performance as the Stars continue conference action.
