Stars Start Conference Play 1-0

Columbia, MO - Stephens College soccer opened conference play in with a dominant performance, earning a 17-0 victory over Mission University at Battle High School. The Stars improved to 4-3-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

Stephens controlled the match from the opening whistle, finishing with 40 shots and placing 26 on goal while limiting Mission to just one total shot and no shots on goal. The Stars also generated 17 corner kicks while holding Mission without a corner.

Amaura Austell and Ava Leininger led a balanced offensive effort with hat tricks. Austell scored three times on five shots, while Leininger finished with three goals and put all five of her shots on target. Eastin Colyer was another major contributor, recording two goals and a team-high three assists while leading the Stars with seven total shots.

Production came from throughout the Stephens lineup as nine different Stars found the back of the net. Addie Butler, Ada Erondu and Pixie Willis each scored twice, while Phoebe Reel, Kylee Kratzer and Lana Fernandes Plagge added goals of their own. Butler, Erondu, Charlie Keefe, Kassi Loethen, Fernandes Plagge and Viktoria Fasser also contributed assists.

Stephens established control early, scoring 10 times in the opening half while recording 23 shots and eight corner kicks. The Stars continued to create opportunities after halftime, adding 17 shots and nine corners over the final 45 minutes.

The Stars were equally strong defensively, preventing Mission from putting a shot on frame. Petra Brncova started in goal before Romina Camacho took over in the first half, with the Stephens defense combining to secure the shutout.

With the victory, Stephens moves to 4-3-3 overall and 1-0 in conference play.
