Stephens Drops Home Game to Williams Baptist

Columbia, MO - Stephens fell in a tight battle at Silverthorne Arena on Wednesday night, dropping an 80–78 decision to Williams Baptist.

After a slow start, the Stars settled in and began to chip away at the deficit, using a strong second quarter to stay within reach heading into halftime. Stephens then turned the momentum in the third, outscoring Williams Baptist 25–14 to briefly take the lead late in the period behind improved shooting and defensive pressure.

LaiJanique Perry-Ellis led all scorers with 30 points, finishing 11-of-22 from the field and a perfect 6-for-6 at the free throw line. She also added four assists and three steals in an all-around performance. Quimari Shelton and Sydney Reddin each scored 13 points, with Reddin knocking down three three-pointers. Shelton was active on the glass, pulling down nine rebounds.

The fourth quarter featured multiple lead changes as both teams traded baskets down the stretch. Stephens stayed within striking distance in the final minute, cutting the deficit to two in the closing seconds, but Williams Baptist was able to convert at the free throw line to secure the win.

Stephens finished the night with 22 points off turnovers and 17 second-chance points, showing strong effort and composure against a tough conference opponent.
