Stars Sweep CBC for Third Conference Victory

Coway, AR - Stephens College volleyball returned to the win column Saturday afternoon, sweeping Central Baptist College in three sets at Reddin Fieldhouse. The Stars secured the victory with set scores of 25-14, 25-22 and 25-14, improving to 5-11 overall and 3-2 in conference play.

Stephens came out strong in the opening set, recording 13 kills while hitting .211 to take a commanding 25-14 victory. The Mustangs challenged the Stars in the second frame, but Stephens maintained control and held on for a 25-22 win to take a two-set advantage.

The Stars delivered their strongest offensive performance of the afternoon in the third set, recording 15 kills on a .282 hitting percentage. Stephens held Central Baptist to just eight kills and a .025 hitting percentage in the final frame, closing out the match with another 25-14 victory to complete the sweep.

Jocelyn Rios led the Stars offensively with 11 kills, followed closely by Michalina Oles with 10. Alyssa Jackson added nine kills on an impressive .400 hitting percentage, committing just one error on 20 attempts. Anna Bradley contributed five kills, while Mercedes Britto finished with four.

Audrey Dinwiddie directed the Stephens offense with 37 assists while adding three kills, 10 digs and a service ace. The Stars also found success from the service line, recording nine aces as a team. Alanis Francelino led the way with three, while Danika Brase added two.

Defensively, Brase turned in another standout performance, recording a match-high 30 digs. Sabrina Rodriguez followed with 16 digs, while Francelino contributed 12. Stephens finished with 81 digs as a team, limiting Central Baptist to a .076 hitting percentage.

The Stars totaled 43 kills on a .193 hitting percentage while holding the Mustangs to 29 kills. The victory marked Stephens' third conference win of the season.
