McPherson, Kan. – Stephens College volleyball wrapped up its weekend in McPherson, Kansas, on Saturday with matches against Loyola University New Orleans and Oklahoma Wesleyan University.
Match 1: Stars 1, Wolves 3
Stephens opened Saturday's action against Loyola University New Orleans, falling 3-1. The Stars started the match strong with a 25-21 victory in the opening set before Loyola responded to take the next three sets, 25-18, 25-21 and 25-7.
The third set proved to be the closest battle of the match, featuring nine ties and five lead changes. Stephens recorded 11 kills in the frame and stayed within reach throughout before Loyola pulled away late for the 25-21 win.
Michalina Oles led the Stars offensively with 10 kills and three service aces. Jocelyn Rios followed with eight kills, while Alyssa Jackson added six and Anna Bradley finished with five. Audrey Dinwiddie directed the Stephens offense with 28 assists.
Defensively, Alanis Francelino led the Stars with 27 digs while adding two service aces. Sabrina Rodriguez collected 11 digs, while Dinwiddie and Danika Brase each added nine. Mercedes Britto led the effort at the net with four solo blocks as Stephens finished with five total blocks.
Match 2: Stars 0, Eagles 3
Stephens closed out tournament play against Oklahoma Wesleyan University, falling in three sets, 25-19, 25-21 and 25-13.
The Stars battled closely with the Eagles through the first two sets. The opening frame featured eight ties and two lead changes before Oklahoma Wesleyan pulled ahead for the 25-19 win. Stephens again kept things close in the second set, which also featured eight ties and two lead changes. The Stars posted their best offensive performance of the match in the second, recording 10 kills and hitting .188 before falling 25-21.
Rios and Oles led the Stephens offense with seven kills apiece, while Bradley added four. Dinwiddie finished with 19 assists along with two kills and two service aces.
Francelino once again led the defensive effort with 11 digs, while Syerra Mitchell added seven and Dinwiddie recorded six. At the net, Stephens totaled three solo blocks and two block assists.
The two matches concluded the Stars' four-match weekend in McPherson. Stephens will look to regroup as it continues its 2026 season and begin conference play this Tuesday against Mission University in Springfield, MO at 6:00pm.
