Daryl Betts

Daryl Betts has officially accepted the position as the Stephens College assistant basketball coach in July 2024.

Betts, a native of Illinois, brings a wealth of experience from his recent position as the head basketball coach at Fayette High School. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in leading the team to its first state sectional appearance in 20 years, finishing with an impressive 21-9 overall record. During the past two seasons, he was the head coach and accumulated a record of 36-22. With Betts at the helm, the Lady Falcons never had a losing season and had their best back-to-back seasons in 20 years.

Prior to his time at Fayette, Betts served as an assistant coach at one of the top Missouri girls' basketball programs, St. Joseph Benton High School. Before Benton, Betts was an assistant for both the men's and women's basketball teams at Graceland University for two years spanning from 2014-2017. During his time with Graceland, his team saw an increase in overall and conference wins each season. Betts was under an impressive basketball coaching pedigree at Graceland that included some of the top NAIA coaches in the nation – Chris Wright (Langston University), Craig Doty (Houston Christian University), and Frank Howell, and is excited to bring the influence of greatness from these mentors with him to Stephens College.

"We are thrilled to welcome Coach Betts into the Stephens Stars Basketball family," said Head Coach Andre Bell. "His passion for recruiting top talent and dedication to player development both on and off the court make him an invaluable addition to our team."

Betts holds a bachelor's degree in kinesiology with an emphasis in sports management from Eastern Illinois University and a master's in educational administration from William Woods University.

"I am thrilled to join the Stars Basketball program and contribute to the development of our student-athletes," Betts said. "I look forward to working with the team and building on the foundation of success already in place."

Betts resides in Fayette with his wife, Elizabeth, and their two children, Liam and Cadence.
