Maggie Hans

Maggie Hans accepted her position as Head Coach in February 2024. She is entering her first season with the Stars in the fall of 2024.

Hans brings a wealth of coaching experience to Stephens College, having served as the former head coach at Southwestern College (Kan.) for three years. Her coaching journey includes impactful stints at Pinnacle Charter High School, Hesston College, and McPherson College, and esteemed volleyball clubs such as Kansas Elite VBC, Fight Club VBC, and Ballistic VBC.

A seasoned competitor in her own right, Hans's passion for volleyball ignited during her high school years and continued into her collegiate career, where she played at Dodge City Community College and Bethel College. She earned her bachelor's degree in health and physical education with an emphasis in coaching from Bethel College in 2014, followed by a master's degree in health science from Fort Hays State University.

Notably, Hans's tenure at McPherson College saw remarkable success under her guidance alongside Coach Jessica Biegert, boasting a commendable 77-28 record. Her leadership propelled the team to clinch the KCAC's regular-season championship with an undefeated 12-0 record and secure a runner-up position in the KCAC postseason tournament. Additionally, Hans led the team to its inaugural appearance in the 2018 NAIA National Tournament, marking a historic milestone for McPherson College's volleyball program.

Throughout her coaching career, Hans has nurtured numerous players who have garnered prestigious accolades, including All-American Outside Hitter, Player of the Year, Defender of the Year, and eight All-Conference Athletes.

Beyond her professional achievements, Hans comes from Wichita with her 3-year-old Aussie, Ozzie. Her passion resides in God, as reflected in her dedication to her faith, and she finds joy in being active in the outdoors.

In addition to her commitment to volleyball, Hans is deeply rooted in her family in Wichita and looks forward to maintaining those connections while embarking on her new journey with Stephens College.

The new coach shared her excitement for her upcoming journey, stating, "I am tremendously excited to jump onto this new opportunity and travel to Columbia and be with Stephens. I am mostly looking forward to meeting the team in person and getting them in the gym."
