Walnut Ridge, AR - The Stephens Stars were on the road as they traveled to Williams Baptist University to start their AMC season with a matchup against the host Eagles. The Eagles got on the scoreboard first as they found the back of the net at the six minute mark. A header from
Kailee Wisber off of a corner kick from
Olivia Wheeler brought the score even for the Stars at the 22nd minute mark. It wasn't until the 75th minute that a free kick from
Kaya Cocanougher bounced past the defense and was picked up by
Devin Dowell who converted and pushed the Stars' lead to 2-1. The last 15 minutes saw both teams with great offensive efforts; but as time expired, Stephens still had the 2-1 lead and claimed their first AMC victory of the season.
