Columbia, MO - The Stephens Stars volleyball team played hosts to the Bobcats of College of the Ozarks in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday. A back-and-forth defensive battle, both teams went the distance and pushed the match to the fifth and decisive set. The Bobcats scored two quick points at the beginning of the fifth set; but their lead would be short-lived as three Stars kills put Stephens back in the lead. Then, tied at 5-5, the Stars put together a 5-1 scoring run to take a 10-6 lead. The Bobcats took a timeout and looked to gain some momentum and close the gap. Down 8-13, the Bobcats made a push to bring the score within two. Stephens called its first timeout of the fifth set up 13-11; out of the timeout, an attacking error from the Stars brought the Bobcats within one, 13-12. The next two points would go the way of the Stephens Stars, earning them the 3-2 victory over College of the Ozarks. The win over the Bobcats marks the first ever for Stephens College in program history.
