Columbia, MO - The Stephens Stars were back in action today as they hosted the Eutectics of the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in a tightly contested AMC matchup. The Eutectics came out fast, jumping out to a 21-9 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Stars' defense worked hard in the second quarter, forcing seven turnovers and holding UHSP to 10 points while scoring 12 themselves; at the half, Stephens faced a 21-31 deficit.
The Stars started the second half energized, but struggled to convert on offense. Heading into the fourth quarter, the Stars were down 30-45. Determined the close the scoring gap, the Stars fought hard and went on a 17-5 scoring run to close the gap to 47-50 with just over two minutes to play. Free throws from the Eutectics secured the win for the visiting team, 56-47.
