Lincoln Pushes Past Stars

Columbia, MO - The Stephens Stars took on the Blue Tigers of Lincoln University of Missouri today in single game action. The Tigers got on the board first, scoring five runs in the first inning. The Stars bats came alive in the second, starting with a homer to left center by Maisie Billups with Gillian Hale scoring on the run. 

In the top of the third, the Stars scored five runs with RBI's coming from Lauren Huskey, Olivia Williams, and Anabel Throckmorton

Heading into the fifth inning, the Stars trailed 8-10. A double from Throckmorton scored Lyndsey Hood and Williams, tying the game at 10-10. Then, Huskey singled to the left field, scoring Throckmorton, for the Stars to take the 11-10 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth. The Tigers bounced back quick, putting six quick runs on the board to take the lead back at 16-11. 

The Stars looked to gain some momentum in the top of the fifth, but two batters were struck out before the third lined out to the short stop. The Tigers scored three runs to end the game in the sixth inning.
