Stars Shoot Just Short of Williams Baptist

On Friday, Stephens took the long journey to Walnut Ridge, AR to take on the William Baptist Eagles on the following Saturday afternoon. The Stars through the first half shot decent from the floor, only down one after the first quarter, eventually going into half time will the same deficit.

The goal of the eagles was to get the Stars in foul trouble, so SC would have to find help deep into their bench. Through the four quarters of play, Stephens had accumulated 22 personal fouls, granting the Eagles thirty-one trips to the foul line. Luckily for Stephens, WBU only shot 64.5% from the charity strip going 20-31. The Eagles had a game plan and it was to let the Stars shoot from deep as much as they wanted. This has been Stephens College bread and butter all year, let them shoot the three, and nine times out of ten they will punish you for it. This was that one time for Stephens where the three-point shot just didn't fall, going 1-16 from deep. Despite only one three point shot falling, the Stars only lost by 8 points and had 4 players in double figures for scoring. Arthel Massaquoi put up a solid 15 points and 8 rebounds, despite being in foul trouble and Zaraya March hit the 20 point mark.

Stephens College Stars will be back Thursday, at home, against Harris-Stowe State University (Mo.) at 5:30 in Silverthorne Arena.
