Columbia, MO - The Stephens College Stars hosted the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in an AMC matchup today at Battle High School. The Stars emerged victorious on a beautiful day in Columbia, Missouri in front of their home crowd on Senior Day.
In a pre-game ceremony, five Stars were honored at midfield accompanied by family, friends, and teammates. Seniors
Lexie Vernon,
Kailee Wisber,
Olivia Wheeler,
Lois Landreth, and
Amelia Stevens were recognized for their accomplishments.
The stars were all business early with a quick goal by
Kailee Wisber, assisted by
Lois Landreth. The Eutectics fought back and were able to tie the game at 1-1 at the 19-minute mark.
Stars responded quickly with an
Isabel Meyers goal with 15 minutes to go, her first of the season. The half ended with the Stars in the lead (2-1).
Wisber made her presence known once again out of the halftime break with her second goal of the match at the 41-minute mark and the assist this time came from
Sofia Jones.
Stars senior #5 Wisber wasn't finished yet, as she found the back of the net once more at the 39-minute mark tallying 3 goals for the day, and 9 for the season.
In the closing minutes of the game, a yellow card issued to the Eutectics seemed to take the wind from their sails as the Stars closed out the game with a victory (4-1).
The Stars will return to play this Monday, October 9
th at 5 p.m. for a cross-town AMC match-up against league-leading Columbia College.
