St. Louis, Mo. – In an exhilarating showdown at the AMC Conference Tournament, the Stephens Stars Soccer team emerged victorious with a 3-1 win against Harris-Stowe State University.
The Stars showcased their prowess right from the start, launching a relentless attack on the Hornet's territory.
Lexie Vernon, determined to make an impact, attempted a powerful header, skillfully saved by the Hornet's goalie. The Hornets retaliated, securing a goal just 11 minutes into the game.
However, the Stars quickly countered at the 13-minute mark when Vernon, assisted by
Kailee Wisber, took another shot on goal, finding the back of the net for her third goal of the season, leveling the score.
Entering the second half with unwavering momentum, the Stars continued their offensive onslaught. At the 13-minute mark,
Lois Landreth brilliantly struck the ball into the net, bolstering the Stars' lead. Shortly after, Nome Crombez, with a precise assist from Landreth, added to her season tally with another impressive goal.
The Hornets struggled to regain control, thwarted by the exceptional defensive prowess of the Stephens team, who truly shined as the "Stars" of the game.
