#1 Campbellsville Prevails Over Stars with a 62-89 Victory

Campbellsville, Ky. - In a formidable clash, Stephens Basketball took on the top-ranked NAIA team, Campbellsville University (Ky.), concluding with the Tigers securing a 62-89 win.

While the Stars initiated the game by clinching the jump ball, Campbellsville swiftly gained momentum with a three-pointer. Lauren Friedrich's layup and a series of successful baskets from Mia Morel and Zaraya March briefly propelled the Stars into the lead. However, by halftime, the Stars found themselves trailing by 14 points.
In the second half, Friedrich kicked off the scoring with a three-pointer, but Campbellsville maintained their lead. The Stars exhibited resilience in the fourth quarter, with Arthel Massaquoi scoring a layup in response to the Tiger's offensive momentum.
The statistics underscored the challenging nature of the game. Stephens encountered difficulties in efficient scoring, with a field goal percentage of 38.3% and a 25.8% three-point shooting percentage. In contrast, Campbellsville showcased superior shooting, boasting a 58.2% field goal percentage and a 42.9% three-point percentage. The Tigers held a 67.9% free-throw percentage, closely trailed by the Stars at 66.7%.

They will return to their home court on December 10th for a cross-town battle against Columbia College at 1 pm in Silverthorne Arena.
