On Sunday and Monday afternoon, the Stephens Stars softball team had double headers against Briar Cliff University and Graceland University respectfully. The Stars didn't have the best outings of the season within these four games, however, we did see glimpses of what is to come.
The Throckmorton sisters, Avery and Anabel, zipped around the basepaths in their first game against Briar Cliff. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Avery Throckmorton hit a bomb 250 foot moon shot, claiming her first home run of the season. Anabel also found herself sprinting the third base in the bottom of the 6th inning, hoping to spark a rally.Â
These games were important for the team to figure out the pros and cons in how they need to adapt as the season moves forward. Being consistent, focussed, and energized will the key components for the squad moving forward. The Stars have a week off before they find themselves up against Iowa Weslayen University on February 28th, 1:00 PM.
