The Stars departed for Batesville, Arkansas Friday afternoon in hopes of redeeming themselves off a tough loss against Lyon College at home earlier in the season. Stephens knew that despite Lyon's losing record, this team knew how to play against them. On the flip side, preparation and execution was even more important for Bell's team this week.Â
Stephens controlled every quarter of play, outscoring Lyon in the first 3 quarters 58 to 43. We did see a late game surge from Lyon, outscoring the Stars 28-18 in the fourth quarter. This late game rally didn't phase the Stars as they were able to close out Lyon without any late game drama and move to 15-6 on the season and 10-5 within the AMC. Today broke the streak of Saturday losses for the Stars and this is the first time in Stephens College Basketball that they have beaten Lyon College.
Today was the day we saw Arthel Massaquoi get to any and all spots on the cour, putting up 23 points, 10 rebounds, while shooting 11/12 overall. Alayasia Douglas and Marveen Ross provided assistance in the scoring both scoring 13 points and putting in a stellar defensive effort.Â
We will see Stephens College at home this Tuesday against the University of Health Science & Pharmacy of St. Louis. Stephens College will be highlighting Breast Cancer Awareness on game day as we strive to "Fight for the Cure",Â
