Stars & Comets Match Up

Stars & Comets Match Up

The Stars took the road trip down to Nevada, Missouri to battle against the Cottey College Comets. Coming into this matchup, the Stars have won five straight,  knowing Cottey would be a major test in the middle of the season. Cottey College is leading the conference in runs scored, wins at home, and overall wins.

In game one, Elise Kendrick was on the rubber looking to win her fourth straight, however, Cottey had some offensive fire power that the Stars hadn't yet seen this season. Kendrick got through three innings and was relieved by Clara Pyle with the two pitchers allowing eleven runs on thirteen hits. Kendrick did put up the solo run for the Stars with a solo-blast over the left field wall.

The Stars were hoping to bounce back in game two, with Grace Tath starting, who has also been on a nice pitching stretch. Even though this game went five innings, the Stars were able to keep the Comets scoreless in three of those innings. On the flip side, the Comets held the Stars scoreless and eventually falling 8-0.

Stephens College looks to bounce back against Williams Baptist this Thursday.
