Game Recap: Basketball |

Stars Victory and Ross’ Milestone in Dominant Win

Columbia, Mo. - In a thrilling AMC match-up, the Stars emerged victorious against Williams Baptist University with a final score of 90-62. Homecoming night was made special as Marveen Ross was honored for achieving her 1,000th collegiate career point on January 4th, 2024 against Missouri Baptist.

The game began with a strong start from Stephens, securing the first basket by Chu Crockett and maintaining the lead throughout the match. Ross continued to contribute to her impressive record by adding more points, including a made 3-pointer in the second half.

By the end of the first half, the Stars had built a substantial lead of 26 points, showcasing their dominance in the game. Despite Williams Baptist's efforts to narrow the gap in the second half, the Stars' solid performance, with a 52.1% field goal success rate and 36.0% accuracy in 3-pointers, proved too much for the visiting Eagles.

The Eagles struggled to match the Stars' shooting percentages, finishing with 36.4% for field goals and 15.4% for 3-pointers. Stephens maintained control of the game and secured the win.

Looking ahead, the Stars are set to play at home on Saturday, January 20th, at 1 pm against Central Baptist College (Ark.). This game will also serve as their Breast Cancer Awareness Game, where they will honor Coach Kay Yow.
