Columbia, Mo. - The Stephens Stars Basketball team suffered their initial conference defeat of the season in an AMC showdown against the Columbia College Cougars, concluding with a 60-71 loss on the road.

Lauren Friedrich's impactful 3-pointers temporarily giving the Stars control. The Stars found their rhythm early leading after the first quarter 16-10.
The second quarter showcased a competitive match-up, with both teams displaying robust defensive efforts. Chu Crockett's early baskets in the paint and strong rebounding helped the Stars maintain a slim one-point lead at the half.
Post-halftime, the Cougars came out of the locker room strong, and the Stars went cold shooting. Â The Cougars went on a run, scoring 9 points and seizing control. While
Mia Morel's made jumper kept the Stars in contention, the Cougars extended their lead throughout the third.
The final quarter witnessed a valiant effort from the Stars, making a comeback with successful baskets early on, cutting the score to 6 and possession late in the fourth. Despite the Stars hustle, the offense stalled, and the Cougars secured the victory with a final score of 71-60.
