ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Stephens College Stars (2-8-2, 1-3 AMC) fell 0-3 to the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy (UHSP) in a road conference match on Tuesday night. Despite a valiant effort from senior goalkeeper Grace Houchin, who recorded nine saves, the Stars were unable to fend off a strong second-half offensive surge from UHSP.
The match remained scoreless through the first half, with both teams trading shots. Stephens had its best chances early, with shots on goal from Lourdes Dias and Sydney Castelli, but UHSP's goalie was solid in the net, making nine saves to keep the Stars off the scoreboard.
The tide shifted in the 67th minute when the Eutectics broke the deadlock. Just over 10 minutes later, UHSP extended their lead with an unassisted strike, followed by an 81st-minute goal, sealing the match.
The Stars will return home for Senior Night on Friday, October 18, at 7 p.m. The match, held at Battle High School, will honor seniors Amanda Coppeti, Sydney Castelli, and Grace Houchin as they face William Woods University.
