Stars Lose Critical AMC Game to WBU, 70-82

Walnut Ridge, Ark. - In a crucial AMC match-up between Stephens College and Williams Baptist University, held at the Southerland-Mabee Center in Walnut Ridge, Ark., Stephens College suffered a tough loss as Williams Baptist extended their winning streak to nine games.  The Eagles improved to 20-4 (13-2 AMC) on the season, while Stephens fell to 18-6 (13-2 AMC).

Chu Crockett showcased her prowess with a standout performance, securing her sixth double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Additionally, Marveen Ross (22 points) and Mia Morel (12 points) made significant contributions to Stephens' efforts.

The game saw a series of lead changes, with Stephens initially taking a 4-point lead thanks to Morel's 3-pointer, only to be followed by an 8-point run from Williams Baptist. Ross managed to narrow the gap with a late basket before the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Morel's tied the game at 21 with a 3-pointer, but Williams Baptist managed to edge ahead by two points heading into the half (28-30).

Despite Ross's impressive performance, shooting 85.7% and leading the Stars with 10 points after the third quarter, Williams Baptist further extended their lead in the fourth, ultimately clinching a 12-point victory.

For Williams Baptist, Kaylee Clark (28 points), Taylor Hooten (18 points), and Charmen Taylor (10 points) were among the standout performers, contributing significantly to their team's success.

Looking forward, Stephens College will face Central Baptist College in their upcoming game on Saturday, Feb. 17 at 1 pm, aiming to bounce back from this defeat.
