Stars Sweep Eutectics in AMC Doubleheader Showdown 

St. Louis, Mo. – 

The Stephens Stars traveled back to St. Louis on Sunday to play against the Eutectics of the University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy.  The Stars began the weekend in AMC play with a perfect 2-0 record. 

They return home with a doubleheader sweep improving their record to 11-17 (4-0 AMC). While the Eutectics bring their record to 8-12 overall (1-3 AMC).

The first game started out early in favor of the Eutectics, however in the top of the fifth inning the Stars started to make a comeback when Elise Kendrick tripled and Ivy Smart singled. After a Stars error, the Eutectics brought the game to a close 2-4. Emma Wood singled at the top of the seventh, tying the game up and forcing the first game of the day to continue until the tenth inning where Lyndsey Hood reached home on an error and Gillian Hale scored. Ending the game in favor of the Stars with a narrow 5-4 victory.  

The second game kicked off as Ivy Smart hit a double, driving Elise Kendrick home. Soon after, Avery Throckmorton also doubled, moving Ivy Smart to third base before she crossed home plate, putting the score at 2-0 early on. Eutectics responded by scoring three runs in the opening inning, bringing the score to 2-3. Gillian Hale singling brought home Avery Throckmorton and Ivy Smart starting the momentum of an impressive eight runs in the seventh inning. Ending the game in a score of 19-8. 

The Stars return home at Rock Bridge High School in Columbia to take on (RV) Missouri Baptist on Mar. 29. Game one is set for 2 pm, followed by game two at 4 pm.
