Stars Win Senior Day Doubleheader against Trojans

Columbia, Mo. - In a thrilling doubleheader matchup, Stephens College Softball faced off against Hannibal-LaGrange University at Rock Bridge High School. The Stars showcased their talent on Senior Day, clinching victories in both games with scores of 7-6 and 8-5 respectively. 

Prior to the games, Stephens College honored their eight seniors: Mia Adriano, Gillian Hale, Lyndsey Hood, Clara Pyle, Grace Tath, Mariah Thibodeaux, Anabel Throckmorton, and Avery Throckmorton, in a touching ceremony. 

In the first game, the Stars and the Trojans engaged in a tight battle, with momentum swinging back and forth. An. Throckmorton's sacrifice fly put the Stars on the board early, but the Trojans fought back to take the lead. However, Stephens rallied in the bottom of the fifth inning, tying the game at 6-6. A pivotal moment came when Emma Wood capitalized on a passed ball from the Trojans, securing a thrilling 7-6 victory for the Stars. 

The second game saw Stephens College maintain their momentum, taking an early lead thanks to solid hitting from Ivy Smart and Wood. Av. Throckmorton's impressive 3-run home run extended the Stars' advantage to 5-1. Though the Trojans attempted a comeback in the sixth inning, the Stars held firm and emerged victorious with an 8-5 win. 

With these wins, the Stars improved their overall record to 13-19, with a conference record of 6-2 in the AMC. Conversely, Hannibal-LaGrange University's record dropped to 3-27 overall, and 1-7 in the AMC. 

Looking forward, Stephens College is gearing up to face the Comets of Cottey College on April 6th. The anticipation is high as the Stars aim to continue their winning streak. The first pitch is set for 2 pm, followed by game two at 4 pm.
