Stars Fall Short Against Eagles in Arkansas

Walnut Ridge, Ark. - In a doubleheader showdown, the Stars of Stephens College clashed with the Eagles of Williams Baptist University in Arkansas, resulting in two tightly contested games.

The opening game saw the Eagles strike first with a powerful homer in the bottom of the first inning. However, Stephens' Ivy Smart countered with a homer of her own in the third, narrowing the score to 4-1. Despite the Stars' efforts, the Eagles rallied in the final inning to clinch a narrow 4-5 victory.

In the subsequent game, Stephens' Emma Wood kicked off the scoring with a double in the fourth inning. Yet, the Eagles swiftly responded with two runs of their own. Stars center fielder Avery Throckmorton's pivotal double to left-center, then brought in two RBIs. Despite a valiant effort, the Stars fell short once again, with the Eagles securing a 3-4 win.

With these outcomes, Stephens College holds a 14-24 overall record, with a conference standing of 7-7 in the AMC. Meanwhile, Williams Baptist University boasts an impressive 26-12 overall record, dominating the AMC with a 9-1 standing.
