Conway, Ark. - In a doubleheader clash between the Stars of Stephens College and the Mustangs of Central Baptist College, the Stars faced tough losses in both games.
In the first matchup, the Mustangs dominated, securing a 2-10 victory. The Stars struggled to gain momentum, with Ivy Smart's double to left center providing a brief spark. However, the Mustangs maintained control, securing the win decisively in six innings.
Game two was a tighter contest, with the Mustangs seizing an early lead with four runs in the first inning. Despite the Stars' efforts, which included Emma Wood's impressive homer to center field followed by a crucial double, along with Gillian Hale's sacrifice fly in the fifth inning that briefly leveled the score (5-5), the Stars couldn't seal the deal. Ultimately, the Mustangs clinched a narrow 5-6 victory after a single down the line in the bottom of the seventh inning.
These results leave Stephens College with a 14-26 overall record (7-9 AMC), while the Mustangs boast a 24-16 record (10-2 AMC).
Looking ahead, Stephens College prepares for a showdown against rival Columbia College at Antimi Sports Complex on Friday, April 19th, with games scheduled for 2 pm and 4 pm.
