HANNIBAL, Mo. – The Stephens College Stars delivered a dominant performance, defeating Hannibal-LaGrange University 104-36 on Monday evening in a rescheduled AMC matchup originally set for Jan. 7.
LaiJanique Perry-Ellis led the way with 26 points on an efficient 10-of-11 shooting, including two three-pointers. Chu Crockett recorded her third consecutive double-double, contributing 16 points, 11 rebounds, and five assists. Taylor Norris and Aushara Hostetler each added 12 points to round out the Stars' balanced attack.
Stephens came out firing, jumping to a 36-14 lead in the first quarter. Crockett set the tone with a layup and a steal that led to a Hostetler three-pointer. Perry-Ellis added 11 points in the quarter, including a fast-break layup off a defensive rebound and a three-pointer from the wing.
The Stars' defense clamped down in the second quarter, holding the Trojans to just four points. Hostetler drained another three-pointer, while Crockett dominated the paint with two offensive rebounds leading to second-chance points. Norris capped the quarter with a pull-up jumper, extending Stephens' lead to 64-18 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Perry-Ellis and Crockett combined for 16 points as the Stars maintained their offensive momentum. Perry-Ellis scored on a backdoor cut off an assist from Norris, and Crockett converted a tough and-one layup in the paint.
Stephens closed the game strong, with Paula Puzule and Sokhna Toure adding late baskets to secure the commanding 68-point victory.
The Stars return to action on Jan. 16 at 5:30 p.m., traveling to face the University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy in AMC play.
