Columbia, MO - The Stephens College soccer team came up short in a 1-0 contest against Harris-Stowe on Tuesday afternoon at home.
The Hornets scored the lone goal of the match in the 11th minute and held on despite a strong defensive showing from the Stars. Goalkeeper Petra Brncova kept Stephens within striking distance with six saves, including several key stops in the first half to prevent Harris-Stowe from extending the lead.
Offensively, the Stars created several chances throughout the match. Ava Leininger and Moriah Carnahan each put a shot on target, while Kylee Kratzer and Carnahan added two more attempts in the second half as Stephens pressed forward late.
Stephens moves to 4-10-1 overall and 1-3 in conference play. The Stars will look to bounce back when they return to action next Sunday, October 26th at 12:00pm against UHSP and Senior Day for the Stars.Â
