Columbia, MO - The Stephens College soccer team closed out its regular season in commanding fashion on Wednesday evening, defeating Hannibal-LaGrange 7-0 to move to 6-10-1 overall and 3-3 in conference play.

The Stars controlled the match from the opening whistle, creating constant pressure and outshooting the Trojans 21-2. After missing an early penalty kick, Stephens broke through in the 11th minute when Moriah Carnahan found the back of the net to give the Stars an early lead. The offense continued to roll as Lourdes Rocha Dias scored back-to-back goals just minutes apart, followed by a strike from Kayln Apodaca to make it 4-0 at the break.

Stephens carried its momentum into the second half, adding three more goals. Kylee Kratzer extended the lead in the 65th minute, Apodaca tallied her second goal of the day off an assist from Kratzer, and Ava Leininger capped off the scoring in the 76th minute.

Petra Brncova earned the shutout in goal, needing just one save as the defense limited Hannibal-LaGrange's chances. Stephens also earned six corner kicks and maintained control throughout the match with strong ball movement and composure.

The Stars will now turn their attention to the postseason after closing out the regular season with back-to-back home victories.
