Batesville, AR – The Stephens College soccer team earned an impressive 3-0 road win over Lyon College on Sunday afternoon at J. Marshall Huser Soccer Field. The result marked a strong response following Saturday's close match at Williams Baptist, as the Stars delivered a complete performance on both ends of the field.
Stephens opened the scoring late in the first half when Jaleic Wilson found the back of the net in the 43rd minute, assisted by Josey Uhrig. The Stars continued to press in the second half, extending their lead to 2-0 just four minutes after the break when Ava Leininger scored off a pass from Carsyn Osborn. In the 68th minute, Kylee Kratzer added a third goal, finishing a setup from Moriah Carnahan to put the match out of reach.
Goalkeeper Petra Brncova anchored the defense with four saves to secure the shutout, while the Stars' back line limited Lyon's scoring chances throughout the contest. Stephens matched Lyon's total of 10 shots and capitalized efficiently on their opportunities, converting three of their four shots on goal.
With the win, Stephens improves to 3-8-1 on the season and gains momentum heading into the next stretch of conference play. The Stars will return home on Saturday, October 11th, to host Central Baptist College.
