Nevada, MO – The Stephens College volleyball team put together a strong all-around performance Thursday night, sweeping Cottey College 25-18, 25-17, 25-18.
The Stars hit .248 as a team while holding Cottey to just .083, controlling the match from start to finish. Lena Hunziker led the attack with 15 kills, followed by Amari Branch-Autman with 10. Fernanda Izar added six kills on a .500 hitting percentage, and Cagla Aslan was nearly perfect with four kills and no errors.
Setter Emma Whitson tallied 29 assists to go with two kills and an ace, while libero Jatnna Peña-Perez anchored the defense with 28 digs. Syerra Mitchell added 11 digs, and the Stars totaled seven service aces, including three from Hunziker.
Stephens' balanced effort on both sides of the net kept Cottey from finding rhythm, as the Stars earned their second sweep of the week to continue building momentum late in the conference schedule.
